G7 Tech Class #30

Today we will continue with Project 3: Logo-gic


Let's think about the following for our Project 3.  The dynamic of the project would be the following:
  • Regroup for this project with someone who you haven't work with neither in Project 1 nor Project 2.
  • Look at the suggested introductory questions in last class' blog post regarding Logo.
  • Star working on your Investigation. You can use this shared doc as your starting point to work collaboratively as a class: 
  • Project 3 Investigation for G7
Remember to complete all parts of Investigation:
  • State the problem
  • Design Brief
  • Relate to AOIs, yourselves, society
  • Pose the guiding questions
  • Research to answer the guiding questions you came up with (use a variety of different sources! Books, magazines, articles, web, etc... not only www ;-)
  • Develop the Design Specifications (Essential and Desirable)
  • Cite your sources (Biblio in MLA format)
  • How will you test yourselves to make sure you are achieving the goal?
  • Don't forget about the Assignment Standards!! (header, footer, and more)
Before you leave you need to make your Processs Journal entry of the day!

G7 Tech Class # 20

Welcome to class #20!!

We will use part of our class to complete a Learning Styles Self Assessment Survey.Please login as a student in the WA website to access the instructions and codes needed for G7.


First part of the class we will keep working on the Touch Typing exercises moving forward following the TextBook guidelines (starting at page #4). Work locally on a word processor (Word, Pages, text Edit, etc) practicing the different rows and letters in the keyboard.

Second part of the class: you need to finish and submit your Investigation stage, as it is due today (make sure you follow the Steps to submit your assignments posted in the MYP Technology website.)

G7 Tech Class #16

Today we will begin with Project 2: Touch & Type


We will work on learning how to become expert Touch Typers!


Let's start thinking about the following for our Project 2.  The dynamic of the project would be the following:

Last class we worked on learning about Shared Documents.

Please take a look at the main ideas / advantages / options regarding Documents Sharing as well as reflections on Digital Citizenship.

Today we will continue working on Project 1:
Spaghetti Tower

I have set up a G7 Investigation Draft that you can use as a guiding structure to work with for your first assignment. Let's work together to list everything we need to include in our Investigation stage.

If you would like to work on this Shared document as your starting point for Investigation, please:
  • Save a copy (File, Make a copy)
  • Click OK to Copy Document
  • Click on the name of the document (top left): Copy of ......
  • Enter a new document name
  • Change the Sharing settings for your group to be able to work collaboratively (Share button at top right)

Remember to use the Assignment Standards!!!!!

You can also use the Design Folder Checklist as guidelines for your Investigation.

Today we will talk about collaborative tools for you to work together in your projects. Let's start by watching these You Tube videos in my You Tube Channel: Google Docs Playlist.

In your class' shared doc (select your group below) please write main ideas / advantages / options of Documents Sharing as well as reflections on Digital Citizenship.

G7 TechClass #3

Welcome to the second week of school!
Please review the mind map assignment on the Design Cycle you were scheduled to finish and submit last class.

Let's take some time from this class to look into your assignments and make sure that the Assignments standards are included in your mind map as well as follow the instructions on how to submit your Assignments
.

Assignments standards:
  • Group Members Names
  • Grade (eg: Ms Maru, G7 A4 ~> Grade 7 A day Period 4)
  • Assignment title / stage
  • Date
  • Cite your sources
  • Create a Crocodoc account (so I have a reply to email address where to send you my feedback)
  • etc
For our first project, I would like you to work collaboratively in groups (max 4 students). You will Design and Build a spaghetti tower. The design specifications are:
  • made of raw spaghetti and rubber bands
  • hold a Marshmallow at the top for over 5 seconds
  • at least 1 ft tall
  • make it as cost efficient as possible based on these specifications:

    • 1 spaghetti = $0.10
    • 1 rubber band = $0.05


Let's begin with Investigation Stage:




  • State the problem you are going to solve
  • Describe in detail and explain the importance of the problem
  • Explain the relevance of the problem (who is effected by this problem and why)
  • Define what you need to find out to make the product (which questions will guide your investigation). 
  • Research to find answers and information.
  • Gather information from a varied range of acknowledged resources.
  • Cite your sources via a bibliography in MLA format (examples listed in the Assignments Standards)
  • Explain how you will test your tower once it is made to evaluate it against the design specifications.
